HYMNS & CHANTS

As a lifelong spiritual seeker,

as well as being a singer-songwriter,

L P has written a fair few songs

expressing explicitly 'spiritual' yearnings and visions —

not to mention a number of love songs

which could also be interpreted

as (thinly veiled) adorations of the Divine.

With his increasing immersions in Hebraic metaphysics,

more and more of his 'spirituals'

have gone beyond a folk-gospel impulse

to incorporate Hebrew and specific Kabbalistic phrases,

crystallizing as Hymns which unashamedly

praise Him and Her and the One and All.....

In addition to such expressions within conventional songforms,

Navon has generated dozens of Chants (mostly in Hebrew),

stemming from the proliferation of short Kabbalistic phrases

in his Katalytik Kabbalah system,

serving as affirmations, theurgic urgings, aphorisms, etc

Lyrics To The Songs Above

PRAISE ALWAYS Praise with laughter and with tears With all we do and promise to and with all we’ve left undone So praise yearning all our years For the prayer the praiser and the praised are really truly one To be worthy Seems to take up so much space and time But just like anyone Sometimes I feel I want to run Even when I see that don’t walk sign And I fall yet You you’re worth it all I am just a passing shade Without your mercy one might as well spell my doom And though I go where shadows grow I’m no longer afraid And so my heart will welcome you into this quiet room To be worthy... And I fall yet You you’re worth it all Oh I fall yet You I fall yet You I fall yet You you’re worth it all Yes I fall yet You I fall yet You I fall yet You you’re worth it all Praise always Brightens my horizons like the setting sun So praise the rest of my days For the prayer the praiser and the praised are really truly one Yes the prayer the praiser and the praised are really truly one Oh the prayer the praiser and the praised are really truly one The verse also works with Hebrew prayer on Arising: Modeh Anee Lfanecha Melech Chai V’Kayyam SheHechezarta Bee Neeshmatee B’Chemlah Rabah Emoonatecha (finishing off with original non-prayer line) Az Modeh Anee Elohai Al HaKol Shenatata Lee Az Modeh Anee Elohai Al HaKol Shenatata Lee: I thank you, living and eternal King, for returning my soul within me in compassion, great is your faithfulness... So I thank you my Creator for all that you have granted me. © L P NAVON Words & MusicETERNAL FLAME When did you oh Lord your guiding hand suspend as Isaac after Isaac was slaughtered in the pen did you hear the cries of the children who died choking on amen And why oh my Lord did you test them to the end we’re left no explanation that could ever make amends did you hear the cries of the elders who died as the darkness did descend then with deepest sighs we slowly rise questioning amen One or six million the evil’s much the same processed with a number now ashes with no name and we who follow must light beyond oblivion’s night in memoriam the eternal flame [2] Oh who you choose dear Lord like the prophets that you send must bear an unfair suffering though you say you are their friend did you hear the cries of the men who died choking on amen and where oh where oh Lord was your presence then when Rebecca by the thousands had no hope to defend did you hear the cries of the women who died as the darkness did descend then with deepest sighs we slowly rise to try to sing amen The world has lost its innocence but let its scar of shame teach all generations hence our differences proclaim and we who follow must light beyond oblivion’s night in memoriam the eternal flame [2] So when I wonder Lord though we’ve witnessed wars again will such a desecration be unthinkable for all men instead all as One we will blend in song the song will be Amen yes all as One we will blend in song the song will be Amen Amen © L P NAVON Words & Music(WE ALL KNOW) THE SEED HAS TO FALL We All Know The Seed Has To Fall How Else Can A Tree Grow To Be Tall Though Ever So Humble And Small To The Sky Higher Up Is Its Call Yes The Seed Has To Listen To The Law Of Its Mission It Just Can’t Go On As Before For The Seed Needs To Die To Be More מֻכְרָח הֲזֶרַע לַחְדוֹל לְהִשְׁתָּנוֹת לְעֵץ גָּדוֹל זֶרַע קָטָן וְעָגֹל צְאֵצְאַיו בַּאֲוִיר הַכָּחֹל זֶה בְּחֹק הַטֶּבַע מֻכְרָח לִפֹּל הֲזֶרַע מֻכְרָח הֲזֶרַע לַחְדוֹל מָחָר מַתָּנָה מֵאֶתְמוֹל Moochrach HaZera Lachdol L’Hishtanot L’Eitz Gadol Zera Katan V’Agol Tseitsav BaAveer HaKachol Zeh B’Chok Hateva Moochrach LeePol HaZera Moochrach HaZera Lachdol Machar Matanah MeiEtmol We All Know The Seed Has To Fall How Else Can A Tree Grow To Be Tall Though Ever So Humble And Small To The Sky Higher Up Is Its Call LITERAL TRANSLATION OF THE HEBREW The Seed Must Cease To Become A Great Tree A Small Round Seed Its Offspring In The Blue Air It’s In The Law Of Nature The Seed Must Fall The Seed Must Cease Tomorrow A Gift From Yesterday © L P NAVON Words & Music .
